Important Points to Remember

• The tool works with raw hex data only; there is no graphical URL‑writing wizard.

• It cannot crack or brute‑force MIFARE Classic keys – you must supply the correct keys for the tag you intend to access.

• The first block of sector 0 on a standard tag is read‑only; certain “gen2” magic tags allow manufacturer‑block writes, but only with the proper command sequence.

• Some Android devices lack NFC controller support for MIFARE Classic; consult the compatibility list if the app fails to launch.

• For troubleshooting, first review the issue tracker before reporting a new problem.

FAQ

Q: Can MCT automatically discover the keys needed to access a tag?

A: No. MCT does not perform brute‑force attacks or key cracking. You must supply the correct keys yourself, either by typing them in or by loading a key‑file dictionary that contains keys you already know. The tool will try each key against every sector, but success depends entirely on the validity of the supplied keys.

Q: What is a key‑file dictionary and how do I create one?

A: A key‑file dictionary is a simple text file that lists known keys, one per line, usually written in hexadecimal notation. You can create it with any text editor, then load it into MCT via the “Load key file” option. Once imported, the app will iterate through the list during authentication attempts, making it easier to extract data from tags that use multiple keys.

Q: How can I read the contents of a tag and save them for later?

A: After you have selected a key (or loaded a dictionary), tap the “Read tag” button. MCT will authenticate each sector, retrieve the raw block data, and display it as hex, ASCII, or integer values. You can then export the dump to a file in formats such as .bin, .txt, or .json, which you can store on your device or share with others.
