It uses your phone’s GPS signal to record your route, track distance, elevation, and speed — perfect for remote areas or off-the-grid trips. Once the route is saved, you can export it as a GPX, KML, or KMZ file for use in other apps like Google Earth.

Offline Maps & Navigation

You don’t need to be online to view maps. Just open the map area once with an internet connection, and it’ll be cached for offline access. For the best offline experience, we recommend using Mapbox maps. The app supports:

Maps are stored temporarily on your device, making them accessible during your journey—even when you're completely off-grid.

1. Can I use Geo Tracker without internet access?

Yes, Geo Tracker doesn’t need internet to record GPS tracks. It relies only on your phone’s GPS signal. However, to see maps offline, be sure to open the map area with internet once before your trip to cache it.

2. Why does my location show as a dot instead of an arrow?

If you see a dot, it usually means:

· You’re standing still or moving very slowly (under ~3 km/h)

· Your GPS fix isn’t strong yet

Enable the compass in the settings to display direction even when moving slowly.

3. Can I see maps when offline?

Yes! Cached maps are available offline—especially with Mapbox which stores areas you've viewed. Just make sure to load the map area before heading out. Google Maps may clear cached data more frequently.

4. Can Geo Tracker help me locate my lost phone?

No, Geo Tracker is a local-only tracking app. It doesn’t upload your tracks to any server, so there's no "find my phone" feature. However, if your tracks were backed up manually, you can retrieve them from cloud storage.

5. What file formats can I export tracks to?

You can export your routes as GPX, KML, or KMZ files. These formats are compatible with apps like Google Earth, Ozi Explorer, and many other GPS and map viewers.
